Clarkson University President Tony Collins has been elected to the board of directors of the New York State Smart Grid Consortium.
Clarkson is a member of the consortium, which is a nonprofit partnership founded to promote statewide implementation of a smart electric power grid.

Gov. David Paterson today pushed again for a cap on both state spending and the amount of funding local governments can seek through property taxes.
He initially proposed the ideas in 2009.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-DeWitt) plans to support the current proposal for health-care reform in the House of Representatives.
Maffei announced his support for the plan today at the DeWitt office of the American Cancer Society.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) said today it won a contract for devices to jam roadside bombs that could be worth up to $940 million.

The initial order, from the U.S. Navy, is worth $40.8 million. The deal runs through September 2014.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker was in Onondaga today promoting the current proposal to allow the sale of wine in grocery stores.

Hooker spoke at the Price Chopper in the Western Lights Shopping Plaza at 4713 Onondaga Blvd. in Onondaga.
